Dillon's 2009 Results

August 4, 2009
This weekend was the Route 66 series race on Dillons home track, 61 Kartway. Friday night, in practice, Dillon was clocked as the fastest kart in his class. Changing track conditions on Saturday though made Dillon work very hard. When qualifying was over, Dillon ended up fifth. In the pre-final, Dillon started fifth and finished fourth. During the final, an accident happened right in front of Dillon, but Dillon was able to get around unscathed. Dillon worked his way up to second with the third place driver right behind him all the way. Dillon came home second in the final run down. Dillon was very happy with the outcome of the race this weekend, even though he was not able to come away with another win on his home track.

This weekend was Dillon was back at the 61 Kartway getting ready for the upcoming Route 66 Series race next weekend. Dillon and the team was experimenting with the kart, trying to get the kart to adapt to the new tires they are required to run. Harder sidewalls on the tires make the karts handle much differently, and it has been a challenge for the 69 Motorsports team. By the end of the day, Dillon and his team was back on the top of their games, taking his seventh feature win of the season at 61 Kartway. Dillon is hoping his success this season will lead to a win next weekend! Last weekend, Dillon was in New Castle, IN for a Route 66 Series race, and came home an impressive fourth, but was not able to run with the home track drivers. Dillon is hoping he can return the favor this weekend at 61 Kartway. Come on out and support your favorite Karter--Dillon!

This weekend was Mid-season championships at 61 Kartway. The race was run in reverse, and there was a hog roast afterwards for all participants and their families. Dillon again qualified first in his class, and won the pre-final going away. In the final, the second place driver was able to draft Dillon the entire race, showing great improvement. But alas, Dillon was able to win the race, making it 7 straight at 61 Kartway. Next weekend, Dillon will be racing again with the Route 66 series in Indiana.

It has been a while since any updates have been done for the website, so here goes a multi-week wrap up of Dillon's racing results... The weekend of May 21, Dillon was able to sweep the day at 61 Kartway for his 4th win of the season. Dillon is hoping his success at 61 Kartway will help him when the Route 66 series race comes to town. Last weekend, Dillon was in Norway, IL for the Route 66 series race. In qualifying, Dillon was third quickest, and a good racing buddy of his finished second using Dillon's backup motor. In the pre-final, Dillon was again third, right behind his friend. The final was a good race as well. Dillon fell back from third to fifth at the beginning, but worked his way back up to 3rd. For the remainder of the race, Dillon kept swapping positions between third and fourth. In the end, Dillon came home with the fourth place trophy out of twenty entrants in the race. Dillon is currently sitting third in points in the midwest.

This weekend Dillon raced at 61 Kartway for the third time, but first was off to a wedding in Dubuque. Due to the wedding, Dillon was not able to get any practice time in. Turns out, Dillon did just fine in qualifying even without the practice. He qualified first, but elected to start in the back of the pack for the pre-final. After a few laps following the front cars, Dillon pulled out and passed the other drivers, taking home the win. He again elected to start in the back of the feature race, and was able to pass the cars again, taking home his third win of the season at 61 Kartway!

This weekend Dillon raced at 61 Kartway for the second time. During the final practice session, Dillon noticed that something was amiss with the motor in his Kart. Upon further examination, it was determined that a crank had failed in the engine. Dillon was disappointed because his good motor was in the shop getting freshened for the upcoming big races later in the year. But to our rescue came Casey Jacob's team! They let Dillon use their back up practice motor to race. Dillon went out for the Final, and won the race. Next week is back to 61 Kartway for another weekly race.

This weekend Dillon raced at 61 Kartway for the season opener. There were six karts in Dillon's class, and he qualified first. He ran a real smooth pre-final, which he won. This gave him the pole position for the feature. In the feature, Dillon was careful at first to not get tangled up with the other karts, and set sail. By the time the checkered flag flew, Dillon was half a lap ahead of second place, and had already lapped two karts. Dillon attributes this to all he learned last weekend during the route 66 series race.

The season opener for 69 Motorsports had Dillon in Springfield, IL this past weekend for the Route 66 Series race. On Saturday, Dillon was the fastest qualifier, giving him the pole position for the pre-final on Sunday. During the pre-final on Sunday, Dillon jumped to the lead early, but contact with the second place driver caused both drivers to lose some ground, sending Dillon back to third. As he was making his way back up through the field, Dillon hit the wall, causing the red flag to come out. When racing resumed, Dillon was forced to the back of the pack to restart in 16th position. Right away he began his march to the front, passing three cars on the first lap, and eventually making it back to eigth place. And to think, Dillon was actually having an asthma attack at the time! During the final, Dillon started eighth, and wanted to get back to the lead. He passed a couple cars on the start, and paced himself. Dillon worked his way up to third place and set his sights on the two leaders. Dillon just ran out of time in the final, coming home third place. He was very happy with the results, but is looking to better them at the next Route 66 Series race in June. Next Week is racing at 61 Kartway for the regular weekly racing opener.
